Classy Career Girl

Do you know a classy career girl? I do. Her name is Anna Runyan and she writes a blog that helps young professionals navigate the corporate ladder called Classy Career Girl.

Anna's mission? To help you become happy, successful and balanced in your work and life while demonstrating class, skill and integrity. You will not find the same old career advice on her site that you can find on millions of other websites. Instead, Classy career Girl shares REAL stories of actual young professional and successful career girls in the REAL world.

Very cool.

Anna answers questions from her readers each week. She approached my with an opportunity to answer a recent question from one of her readers. One glance at her site and I couldn't pass this up.

The question was Should I Disclose My Health Problems at Work? and you'll have to click on over to find out my answer.

Enjoy the site.

Why do we continue to refer to ourselves as 'Girls' and why a legs shot to be a 'classy career girl' ? Would you be OK if your CEO referred to you as a 'girl'? I don't refer to men as 'career boys'. Something to contemplate. Some might say 'what's the big deal' but if we want to be taken seriously as Women, maybe we should stop referring to ourselves in a childlike term, or using pictures of our legs as our logo. Takes away from the brilliance these women show in their blogs. So, talk amongst yourselves...

Lisa-Thank you for highlighting my blog and helping me respond to a reader's question about health and HR. I appreciate it and I know my blog readers found it very useful.

Aimiee-Thank you for your comment. I enjoy hearing other people's thoughts about the message I am sending. My goal is to create a community of young professionals who might not consider themselves women yet and may be intimidated by being involved in a site that is geared towards women, CEOs and executives. I have never thought of my logo as legs. Instead, I see my logo as a young professional dressed in a professional skirt suit at her first day of work. The reason that she has no face is because it could be any one of us young professionals headed to work or an important interview.
