Quietly, The Firewall Comes Down

Without word, warning or mention, the firewall came down and internet sites once blocked are now accessible in the workplace.

To what degree, to what extent or for how long I don't know but this is a good thing. We are one part of a much larger organization and while I don't impact the big picture day to day, I do within the my organization.

It's time for me to initiate the conversation, provide the leadership and above all, be the voice of reason. Keep your hands and feet inside the car, the ride is about to begin.

That is great news, what do you think was the impetus that finally led the organization to take down the restrictions?

Finally! You have been pushing this for months, and it looks like it's started to pay off. I can't think of anyone better to be driving this car. ;)

I don't think you understand what a firewall is.

Firewalls do not block websites, that's done by a filtering proxy.

Steve and Kelly - pretty great news isn't it? I'd like to say it was all me but I had absolutley nothing to do with it and am unsure what prompted the change in practice. It's all good.

Rob, "firewall" makes for a much better visual than "filtering proxy."
